Teaching Is Heart Work

My learning style has always been ‘hands on.’ I was very blessed to have had a mother who provided the structure and organization that I needed to be successful in school. My mother, Suzanne, was educated at Baylor University to be an elementary school teacher and her passion was children and music (also mine).

I had a professor friend at Baylor and SMU (both my alma maters) named John Schoen who taught Entrepreneurship with my mentor, Jerry White, at the SMU Cox Entrepreneurship Center. He founded the Entrepreneurship Center at Baylor and became its first director. Additionally, he co-founded the Institute for Family Business.

I think he instinctively knew how important it was for me to please both my parents, but especially my mom since my goal was to teach children music.
